Washington (ANI): Veteran rocker Bruce Springsteen is more than happy to be approaching his 60th birthday, because he believes that old age is liberating. The 58-year-old says that he is more contented with his life now, than when he was a young rock star because he has more freedom with his career. Springsteen, who turns 60 next year (09), confessed that he can now stop trying to gratify the music industry and pursue his own chosen path instead - something he couldn’t have done when he was in his twenties. “My take on the whole thing is, by the time you’re my age the race is over. These are the victory laps. I can make any kind of music I want to make,” Contactmusic quoted him, as saying. “There are no rules. I’m not worried about whether I’m going to be competing with 50 Cent. All that pressure is off,” he added.

The manager of hip-hop star NATE DOGG has blasted “vicious” rumours alleging the singer is dead, insisting he is alive and well.
Snoop Dogg’s cousin - real name Nathaniel Dawayne Hale - was said to have passed away at the weekend (10-11May08) after suffering complications following his stroke late last year (07).
The news spread across the internet after a message was posted on the 38-year-old singer’s MySpace page - but his manager Rod MCCrew insists the cruel reports are all false.
And he claims the MySpace post was made by a member of the public who had hacked into Nate Dogg’s account on the social networking site.
MCCrew tells XXLmag.com, “It’s a vicious rumour. And it’s run amok.”
Nate Dogg has been recovering at home since he was hospitalised in December (07), but MCCrew reveals he is gradually regaining his health.
He adds, “We’re pleased with his progress.”

Former SPICE GIRL VICTORIA BECKHAM has lavished praise on her new pal GEORGE CLOONEY - but insists he’s not as good-looking as her husband DAVID.
The star spent time with the Hollywood hunk during a flight on Giorgio Armani’s private jet earlier this month (May08), and attended his star-studded 47th birthday bash in New York last month (Apr08) with her England soccer star beau.
Beckham admits she’s very fond of the Ocean’s Thirteen actor, but doesn’t think his looks compare to the L.A. Galaxy star.
She says, “I have only just got to know George. He was so nice, a real gentleman and absolutely hilarious. He has a great sense of humour.
“But I think David is better looking than him. Definitely.”

SEX AND THE CITY star CHRIS NOTH has delivered another blow to the city where the TV show and new movie is set, insisting New York isn’t as great as it used to be.
His comments come just weeks after Sex and The City producers snubbed the Big Apple for the world premiere of the film, and held it in London instead.
Speaking to publisher Ron Galotti - the inspiration for his Mr. Big character - Noth, who first arrived in New York in the 1970s, tells Interview magazine says, “New York is pretty much commercialised to the point of no return”
Adding he misses the “diverse eccentrics” and “different neighbourhoods” that were once such a big part of the city used to fill the city: “That’s all been washed out. It’s very suburban. The art scene really left, except in patches. It’s all about sort of a corporate sensibility, and it’s squeezed out room for any other kind of sensibility.”
And Noth is planning to deal another blow to New York by moving his Cutting Room night club out of the Big Apple and into Las Vegas.
He explains, “I want to take the club to Vegas. I think a Cutting Room would be great in Vegas. I just haven’t really had the time to go out there and schmooze people and try to get them to invest millions of dollars.”

‘EastEnders’ is reportedly set for a shocking stabbing storyline when youngster Jay Brown gets mixed up with a gang.
According to reports, the schoolboy, played by Jamie Borthwick, will begin to hang around with a violent gang after his father Jase starts spending more time with Dawn.
The gang reportedly terrorise elderly local lady Dot Cotton at her home and in the street and later Jay’s father Jase also gets on the wrong side of them.
Reports have suggested that an ‘EastEnders’ regular gets stabbed by one of the gang in a confrontation.
A show source told The Sun: “This is easily one of the most shocking and controversial storylines ‘EastEnders’ has ever done.”
“It is not a decision bosses have taken lightly, but it is an issue that is top of the news agenda.”
The source also said: “We’re going to tread very carefully - it won’t be gratuitous. The plan is to screen the episodes in the usual slots before the watershed.”
“Hopefully by showing the suffering that gang violence can cause, some people may think twice about getting involved.”

Britney Spears was joined by surprise guest Michael Jackson at Christian Audgier’s birthday party in Hollywood on Friday night.
However, unfortunately the music megastars’ paths did not cross as Britney - wearing a short, black tube dress - left the party at Los Angeles’ Petersen Automotive Museum just before Jacko arrived.
Guests including Pamela Anderson and actress Mena Suravi took in performances from Black Eyed Peas star Fergie and soul singer Macy Gray.
